ARKYD SERIES 100 - LEO SPACE TELESCOPE

 Crowdfund Space
Interested in getting involved in our mission to mine the asteroids? Planetary Resources is thinking about launching a Kickstarter project to give private citizens the first use of a space telescope in history.
Planetary Resources, the recently-announced asteroid mining company, is considering launching a Kickstarter campaign that would allow participants some level of control over a small spectrum of their low-earth orbiting, high-resolution telescopes. Crowdsourcing space exploration is also a way for the company to respond to the overwhelming response people have had to the company, and the requests asking how individuals can get involved in what the company plans to do.

To offer individuals a chance to actually get involved, Planetary Resources been tossing around the idea of adding additional capacity in thier production run, and either offering people access to a portion of their orbiting spacecraft. Also, if there’s enough demand, Planetary Resources may actually build additional Space Telescopes for your private use.

Peter Diamandis, co-Chairman of the company has put out a call for additional ideas at the Planetary Resources website, and has also added a short video explaining the idea.

What do you think of the idea of crowdsoucing at Planetery Resources? Let us know in the comments, and don't forget to pass them on to the company too.

  1. A lot of people seem to be angry that Planetary resources is attempting a kick starter considering their financial backers. The important thing people forget is that 1. this is a business, and 2. this fits perfectly in the business model that they had in mind when they announced the company. For a 100$ I can get to rent a space telescope.. Where do I sign?!
